A classic car rally on the city’s central square

An always attractive classic car rally, which will take place on the 12th and the 13th of June from Zagreb to Samobor and back, will once again attract numerous visitors this year. All of the vehicles will also be on display at the city’s main square where the drivers will prepare a small classic car spectacle.

Zagreb’s popular Old-timer Club has, for many years now, traditionally been organizing attractive classic car and motorcycle rallies. One such event is scheduled for June 12th, when a procession of original classic cars will make a brief stop at the city’s central square. The following day, participants will take part in the traditional 25th Old-timer Rally from Zagreb to Samobor and back.
The rally is organized by members of the Zagreb Old-timer Club and employees of Automehanika Services. As announced, this year’s rally will feature some 100 cars and motorcycles that are more than 30 years old.
The first day is reserved for a promenade drive and participants’ revue. On this occasion, Zagreb’s citizens and guests will have an opportunity to view all participating vehicles between 10 a.m. and noon in front of the Croatian National Theatre building on the Square of Marshall Tito. At noon, the procession will embark on a promenade drive along the city centre and will make a brief stop at the Square of Ban Josip Jelačić, where it will remain until 1.30 p.m. Since the square is usually a strict pedestrian zone, the attractive classic cars and bikes will surely provoke a great interest among those passing by. The program will then continue with a “working” lunch and the participants’ visit to the newly-opened Museum of Contemporary Art.
On Sunday June 13th, the participants will embark on a competitive rally that will begin with challenges of skill and accuracy, followed by a drive to Samobor and back. Upon returning to Zagreb, participants will have an opportunity to enjoy an entertainment program, during which the best drivers will receive their awards.
