A new entertainment programme in Tkalčićeva Street

In early July, the Zagreb Tourist Board launched a music and entertainment programme, called “Tkalčijana”, which will be taking place in Tkalčićeva Street. This is yet another new tourist programme that is taking place as part of the “Zagreb Time Machine” and, until the end of September, Zagreb’s most popular bar-street – located in the pedestrian zone – will be the lively venue for performances by numerous musicians. The programme will be taking place on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays between 7 p.m. and 11 p.m., as well as on Saturdays and Sundays between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. The programme will feature diverse music genres, from old town songs and “Schlagers”, to swing, jazz and Irish music, and these performances will take place in several locations stretching from the beginning of Tkalčićeva Street, on the corner of Krvavi Most (“The Bloody Bridge”), all the way to its end.

A special attraction of this programme is the “wandering piano”, which will be installed in various points along the street, allowing performers as well as visitors to play on it as they please. Considering the popularity of Tkalčićeva Street, strewn with bars, cafes and boutiques along its entire length, we do not doubt that the programme will attract numerous visitors… Nowadays, Tkalčićeva is one of the liveliest streets in Zagreb, attracting numerous citizens as well as tourists throughout each day; it stretches from the main city square of Ban Josip Jelačić, while its gastronomic and souvenir offer reflects the spirit of old Zagreb. The Society of Naïve Artists of Croatia is also located on that street, while its centre is dominated by a statue of great Croatian writer and first female journalist, Marija Jurić-Zagorka.
