Between the 13th and the 15th of May, Zagreb was host to the annual gathering of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), during which more than two thousand participants from all over the world discussed current financial and economic topics. These distinguished guests also had an opportunity to experience the hospitability of Croatia and its Capital, Zagreb, as well as the country’s tourism offerings. The city has once again proved that in terms of its human and infrastructural resources it is fully prepared to organize and host such important events.

More than 2000 people participated in the annual gathering of EBRD, which took place in mid-May in Zagreb. Among the participants were heads of EBRD, ministers, ambassadors, businessmen, scientists and journalists from more than 60 countries. The gathering was organized by the EBRD and the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Croatia.
The main conference venue was the Westin Hotel, where 160 offices of authorized delegations and management of the EBRD were located, but the program also ensued at other venues within the city’s pedestrian zone – the Regent Esplanade Hotel, the Klovićevi Dvori Gallery, the State Archive, the Museum of Arts and Crafts, and the Mimara Museum. “Novinarski Dom” (The Press Club) was the press centre for 350 accredited journalists.
This large gathering of renowned economic experts also provided a chance for these distinguished guests to get to know Zagreb and to experience the atmosphere of the city, which has, throughout the ages, conquered the hearts of many a businessman or tourist.
