Attractive happenings at Zagreb’s lakes
The beautifully decorated settings of Zagreb’s lakes, Jarun and Bundek, and their new facilities are where numerous sporting and cultural events take place. The swimming season at the lakes will officially kickoff in mid-June.
With a variety of sports grounds, bars and restaurants, tidy walkways and bike paths, as well as a well kept natural environment, Zagreb’s lakes, Jarun and Bundek, are the ideal places for organizing various cultural and sporting events. The Floraart international flower show took place at Bundek in late May, while numerous other cultural and entertainment programs, sporting competitions, workshops and theater performances for children were taking place at the same time.
Two-hundred thousand new plants were planted for the exhibition which saw its 43rd edition this year. Some 150 exhibitors from Croatia and abroad set up their stands at this year’s floral extravaganza and attracted droves of visitors to the lake shores. The Jarun Lake, a popular open-air venue for various cultural and sporting events, has also been discovered by large companies which chose its shores to promote their products to potential customers. The well developed infrastructure and facilities for children, and a rich offer of food and drinks make Jarun a popular destination for Zagreb’s citizens and their guests who are sure to find good fun or the perfect relaxation spot there. On June 11th the swimming season will officially kickoff at both lakes with the raising of blue stars. Throughout the season, lifeguards will be present at all the beaches to look after the safety of the bathers. Recreational programs for senior citizens are already in full swing as they were launched in mid-May and will go on until August.
