Climbing on the list of the best congress cities in the world
Year after year, Zagreb has been affirming itself as an excellent congress destination, which is confirmed by the huge 55-rank-leap on the ICCA list in just a year.
According to a report recently published by the prestigious congress association, ICCA (International Congress and Convention Association Zagreb), in 2013 the Croatian capital climbed to the enviable 79th position among a total 371 cities on the list of the most successful congress destinations. Especially pleasing is Zagreb’s huge 55-rank-leap in comparison with 2012. According to the Croatian Bureau of Statistics, last year’s 3,793 business meetings that were organized in Zagreb accounted for more than 50 percent of all meetings held in Croatia. Last year, Zagreb hosted about 400 congresses more than in 2012.
The tasks of the Zagreb Convention Bureau, operating as part of the Zagreb Tourist Board, include making contacts with potential organizers and presenting Zagreb’s congress potentials using a range of modern tools, including mobile applications. Zagreb is well connected with many European destinations, as well as other parts of Croatia. Also, it often hosts congress organizers and tour agents, whose inspection visits usually tip the balance when it comes to organizing a particular meeting in the Croatian capital. According to them, the impressions they gain always surpass their expectations; they are most overwhelmed by the beauty and atmosphere in the city, as well as the quality of the services, the gastronomic offer and Zagreb’s surroundings, all of which make the Croatian capital the ideal congress and incentive destination.
