Cultural festival related to Easter

Between March 20th and March 31st, a multicultural festival, the Passion Heritage, will take place in numerous locations across the city. Organized for ten years now, this event will feature an abundance of cultural and artistic programs related to Easter.

Before Easter, between the 20th and the 31st of March, numerous locations across the city will host the multicultural festival, the Passion Heritage. This event has been organized since 1992 and it unifies an array of cultural and artistic programs thematically tied to the Passion of Christ and His resurrection. During this event, numerous locations across the city, predominantly churches but also other institutions, will feature various art, music, theatre, literature and folklore events and performances. As part of the Passion Heritage, there will be a contest for the best works of art, literature or music, which have Christ’s passion as their theme. This year is particularly dedicated to literature and, therefore, the members of the Passion Heritage Association, in cooperation with the Croatian Writers’ Association, have announced the 5th Triennial contest for the literary piece on the passion of Christ or, more widely viewed, general human suffering.

The Passion Heritage Association, as event organizer, has based the programme on numerous baselines of the Croatian cultural heritage; from the literary, written and spoken word, liturgy and music holdings, to architecture, sculpture, and painting. Over the ten years of the event’s existence, the Passion Heritage has provided Zagreb with more than a hundred art programs that have been viewed by tens of thousands of visitors. The Passion Heritage Association has been accepted into the European, Europassion Association in 1998.
