Zagreb’s Regent Esplanade Hotel was opened in the city center in 1925 to accommodate affluent tourists who arrived in Zagreb onboard the legendary Orient Express. During the 80 years of its existence, it has served as a home away from home to numerous dignitaries from all over the world, and has played an important role in the social lives of generations of Zagreb’s citizens.
Apart from the roles it has played as a luxury temporary residence and a major factor in the development of the city’s tourism, the Esplanade Hotel has also contributed significantly to the education of new tourist professionals. Since day one, the hotel has made sure that service which is second-to-none tops the list of its priorities. In 1964, it was included in the Inter-Continental chain of hotels, while in 1988 it became a member of the Leading Hotels of the World. Since its latest renovation, in 2004, it has been operating as part of the Regent International Hotels Group.
