Overnights Exceed One Million
In the first eleven months of last year, Zagreb recorded more than a million overnights, or four percent more than in the same period for the previous year.
According to statistics, Zagreb recorded over a million overnights in the first eleven months of last year, which was a four percent increase on the previous year. More than 600,000 tourist arrivals, predominantly foreigners who constitute most of Zagreb’s guests, were recorded in that part of the year. The growth rate in both foreign and domestic arrivals was as much as 6 percent.
Guests from Germany were in the lead with the highest number of overnights and they were followed by guests from the United States, Italy, Great Britain and France. A high position on this scale is held by the Japanese, with a 52 and 34 percent increase in the number of arrivals and overnights, respectively. The high growth rate in arrivals from Japan is due to more excursions organized by travel agents from neighboring Slovenia. High positions on this scale are also held by tourists from our neighboring countries like Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia etc.
The arrival of numerous groups from Italy, as well as other countries, has been recorded throughout December, a time when many tourists traditionally spend their holidays in the Croatian capital. Owing to their impressive numbers, the end of 2008 was a successful period for the Zagreb tourism industry which recorded fairly high growth rates in tourist turnover despite the global financial crisis.
