Overnights in February up by 15 per cent

An exceptional increase in the number of arrivals and overnights of domestic tourists has continued last year's tourism trend in Croatia, in which they held second place in guest representation based on nationality.

According to the statistics on the amount of tourism traffic in Zagreb, the trend has continued this year with a high rate of growth. The number of overnights has increased by an average of 15 per cent a month. For nearly a decade, Zagreb has maintained this type of high growth rate and has remained at the top of Croatian tourism.

According to the data for February of this year, Zagreb has recorded 9 per cent more foreign guests which have achieved 10 per cent more overnights. At the same time, the number of domestic tourists was 17 per cent higher and they achieved 23 per cent more overnights in comparison with the same month last year.

Germans, who for a number of years have been the most frequent tourists in Zagreb, were once again the leaders. Along with a 4 per cent increase in arrivals, in February of this year, they achieved 8 per cent more overnights than in the same month last year. Following the Germans, the Austrians achieved the highest number of overnights. Tourists from the USA, who held second place for nearly all of last year, moved down to fourth place. Third place was held by the guests from Bosnia and Herzegovina, while the Italians came in fifth place, considering the number of overnights they recorded went down by 5 per cent. They were followed by the guests from Serbia that realized a relatively smaller number of overnights and also recorded a negative growth rate of 8 per cent.

When we take a look at the guests from Western European countries, guests from Great Britain and Spain realized 10 per cent more overnights, while the French realized 1 per cent fewer overnights.
