Souvenirs with signatures of Croatian designers

Located on Tomićeva Street, by the funicular, the recently opened shop, “Take me Home”, is a one-stop place for merchandise with signatures of Croatian designers which makes for great, useful souvenirs tourists can take home with them.

A new shop, “Take me Home”, featuring items designed by Croatian designers, has recently opened its doors to punters in the heart of the city, on Tomićeva Street, just beneath the entrance to the funicular – one of the city’s most recognizable landmarks. The shop offers selected items bearing signatures of Croatian designers, which can now be purchased in one place and taken home as a useful souvenir. They include home furnishings, fashion accessories and toys. Their design, materials, colours, motifs and production method are all part of the tradition and customs from the rich Croatian heritage. All items have been produced locally or handmade, as an alternative to mass produced or imported goods that are often of questionable quality. This is precisely the point of the entire project which was conceived and launched by Lumaris Studio as the brand owner. The brand’s underlying idea is to promote items designed and produced in Croatia as best souvenirs. Special attention is paid to items made using old, artisan techniques, which helps preserve ancient crafts.

The special value of this project lies in its social aspect, since the designers have developed close cooperation with associations and organizations for inclusion. Designers have organized special, creative workshops for the employees of these institutions, who are persons with special needs. This has resulted in the creation of the Extra Ordinary Design collection, which is also for sale.

This project, whereby product design is used as a vehicle to promote a quality souvenir offer, so far includes about twenty designers and design studios. Among them are many known and multiply awarded names, such as Bruketa&Žinić OM, Superstudio 29, Filip Gordon Frank, Svjetlana Despot and Maja Mesić, as well as some up-and-coming talents, including Manufakturist, Vile, Tea Janković, Damjan Jacić and many others.

Hitherto, all items by Croatian designers could be ordered online at www.takemehome.hr, and now they can also be purchased by tourists as well as Zagreb’s citizens in the very heart of the city, on Tomićeva Street.
