The Jarun Picnic Festival and the Zagreb Adventure Festival

Between May 1st and May 5th, Zagreb’s Jarun Lake will be the venue for two festivals – the 1st Jarun Picnic Festival and the 2nd Zagreb Adventure Festival, the latter is scheduled to take place over the weekend. Visit the Island of Croatian Youth and enjoy numerous exciting sporting activities and other forms of entertainment.

Between May 1st and May 5th, the Island of Croatian Youth at Zagreb’s Jarun Lake will be the venue of entertainment and sporting events that are part of the 1st Jarun Picnic Festival and the 2nd Zagreb Adventure Festival, the former will take place all five days, and the latter is scheduled for the weekend, on May 4th and 5th.

The Jarun Picnic Festival was conceived as an entertaining gastronomic event for the entire family. During the day there will be opportunities to socialize alfresco over a traditional barbecue or enjoy specialties from the tasty offer of Croatian regional cuisines at one of the restaurants around the lake. In the evenings the Jarun Picnic Festival goers will be entertained by performers from Croatia as well as the rest of the region. Their concerts will take place on a large central stage and two smaller stages. One of the latter will feature rock music, and the other world music. A large fun-fair will be organized for the youngest visitors of the festival.

The Zagreb Adventure Festival, aimed at all aficionados of adventure tourism, active holidays, sports and recreation, will also be taking place over the weekend, concurrently with the Picnic Festival. Apart from other events, it will feature presentations of adventure sports gear by exhibitors from Croatia as well as many other European countries, including Italy, Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Austria, Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, etc. This year’s Zagreb Adventure Festival will also feature B2B workshops where business people will be able to meet and discuss business deals. There will also be a charity event featuring teams from all of Croatia’s children’s homes which will be competing in the adventure sports presented at the festival. The best team will win a five day stay at the Zrmanja Scout Camp. There will also be team and corporate games...

The goal of the Zagreb Adventure Festival is to raise awareness about the importance of partaking in active holidays, and to involve as many citizens as possible in outdoor sporting and recreational activities. That is why the festival is regarded as a project of high social importance, and it is taking place under the auspices of the City of Zagreb, the Zagreb Tourist Board, the Ministry of Tourism, and the Ministry of Science, Education and Sport.
