The Modern Gallery is continuing with the organization of unique art exhibitions primarily aimed at blind and visually impaired people, which enables them to get to know some of the greatest works of Croatian modern art by means of touch and vocal guidance.
Until mid-November, the Modern Gallery will feature the third edition of the tactile gallery, primarily aimed at blind and visually impaired persons.
This project, unique in Croatia, enables persons with impaired sight to get to know and experience some of the greatest works of Croatian modern art by means of touch and sound.
Like the previous two editions, this exhibition will feature several works by great Croatian artists.
Exhibited this time are the painting “Drawer” by Leo Junek, as well as sculptures “Spring” by Fran Kršinić and “The Portrait of Sanja” by Dušan Džamonja.
By touching the artworks, and with vocal assistance from a guide, blind persons can experience what “regular” visitors see with their eyes.
By feeling the shapes, while receiving detailed vocal descriptions of the artwork at hand, they have an opportunity to “view” the exhibition without the visual experience of the art. However, this exhibition is also interesting for “regular” visitors who, instead of just seeing the exhibits, also have an opportunity to enhance their experience by touching the artworks and hearing their detailed descriptions.
Apart from the tactile gallery, the Modern Gallery will also feature a large exhibition “200 Years of Croatian Art” until the beginning of December. This is a permanent exhibit of Croatian artists from the 19th and the 20th centuries, complemented by new works of twenty two local contemporary artists.
The exhibit now contains works by painters Leo Junek and Oton Gliha, as well as works by renowned pioneers of contemporary art in Croatia - Dimitrije Popović, Josip Zanki, Matko Mijić and Dalibor Stošić.
