Theatre and concert programmes at Bundek Lake
Apart from various events and more than seven hundred plays that will take place as part of this year’s Zagreb Cultural Summer on some forty stages in the city, Zagreb’s citizens and their guests can also look forward to a diverse programme at Bundek Lake.
Another Zagreb Cultural Summer has begun; it will feature an array of events on some forty stages in the city. The programme includes international theatre and film festivals, various concerts, open air theatre programmes and art exhibitions, as well as various other events, including more than 700 plays organized by the City of Zagreb under the title ZgKul. During the seventy-day event, the city streets and squares where the citizens of Zagreb hang out throughout the year will be very lively. The actors from the Komedija Theatre kicked off this year’s edition of ZgKul at one of Zagreb’s two lakes – Bundek, with the musical play “Ðerdan” by Croatian composer Jakov Gotovac. Also at Bundek, the programme “Serbus Zagreb” will mark Croatia’s entry into the EU in a special way, with rock concerts and the International Fireworks Festival, once again hosted by Zagreb.
After last year’s renovation of the once popular Tuškanac Summer Stage, this year’s renovation of the stage at Bundek Lake has provided Zagreb with yet another attractive venue for organizing interesting events in the open. In July, Bundek Lake will feature sixteen concerts, ranging from classical music to rock and jazz, as well as various other every-day events. Many groups have announced their participation, including the ensemble of Zagreb’s Croatian National Theatre, the Jazz Orchestra, the Tamburitza Orchestra of Croatian Radio and Television, the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra, the Lado Ensemble, the Zagreb Dance Ensemble, the Liberdance Studio, etc. Visitors will again be spoiled for choice for spending their leisure time at Bundek Lake, where fun has famously been had by thousands over the years. Therefore, make sure to visit Bundek during this year’s Zagreb Cultural Summer, and just enjoy the events that await you there.
