About 120 documentaries from around the world will be shown at the fifth jubilee of ZagrebDox, the region's biggest international festival of documentary films. This will take place from February 23rd to March 1st at the Student Center.
ZagrebDox, the biggest festival of documentary films in the region, which celebrates its fifth birthday, will present about 120 of the most interesting documentaries from around the world. The fifth ZagrebDox will be taking place from February 23rd to March 1st at the Student Center.
The international competition program will feature an impressive selection of creative and most awarded films at a variety of festivals around the world. Therefore, the audience in Zagreb will be able to see “Alone in Four Walls”, a film about inmates - wards at a Russian reform school. So far this film has won ten international awards. The audience will also see the documentary “Rene”, the winner of the European film award, as well as “Burma BJ” the best film at the IDFA – Documentary Film Festival. The program of international competition also includes the showing of the biographical story “Valentino”, about one of the world's greatest fashion designers, as well as the documentary “Kassim the Dream”, which is based on the life story of the world boxing champion Kassim Ouma. Given that the focal point of ZagrebDox is regional production, which has earned it the epithet of the biggest international festival in the region, we can expect fierce competition. The documentaries on show will also include “Testimony”, which was awarded the “Prix Europa”, the European television award. This is a relatively sad story about a man that, after having been diagnosed with a brain tumor, decides to spend the last three years of his life filming documentaries.
Film aficionados can expect a number of interesting events in the program such as a national retrospective, authors' evenings, and the traditional, popular programs “Controversial Dox” and “Music Globe”. A new program has been added this year, “Happy Dox”, which includes films with happy endings. The organizer of the ZagrebDox festival is the production company Factum.
