ZAGREB THE SECOND BEST DESTINATION IN EUROPE!

At the recently finished online competition for the best European destination that was organized by the European Best Destinations organization, Zagreb took the second place!

At the recently finished online competition for the best European destination that was organized by the European Best Destinations organization, Zagreb took the second place! On the first place is Porto and Zagreb  won this excellent result in strong competition among 18 other cities, which are: Amsterdam, Vienna, Berlin, Barcelona, Bergen, Budapest, Cannes, Glasgow, Nicosia, London, Madeira, Madrid, Milan, Porto, Paris, Prague, Rome, Stockholm, Geneva.

European Best Destinations is a European non-profit making organization based in Brussels and developed to promote culture and tourism in Europe. In partnership with the participating tourism offices the organization promotes a better understanding of the wealth, diversity and quality of European destinations and Europe as the number one destination in the world. This online competition has been organized to encourage excellence, enhance the image of the winning destination and thus attract a higher number of visitors.

Zagreb Tourist Board is extremely pleased with this success, which shows that not only the profession, but also the general public recognizes and appreciates the qualities of Zagreb and considers this result to be a special recognition for the hard and professional work in the promotion of Zagreb as a tourist and convention destination. The results for January are also in Zagreb’s favor because there were 33,548 guests, which is an increase of 6% in arrivals. Of the total number of visitors, 21,224 were foreigners and this represents an increase of 4%. Most of them came from Italy, BIH and Germany.
