As one of the greatest world skiers, and one of Croatian’s most successful athletes, Janica Kostelić has been admitted as a member of the world sports academy, Laureus, and thus joins the ranks of 46 greatest world sports legends.
Concurrently with the exhibition of prints by Dutch master Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijn, the Museum of Arts and Crafts in Zagreb will open its doors in December for the largest show ever of clocks in this part of Europe, featuring clocks made between the 17th and 20th centuries.
On an average convention season day, Zagreb hosts many small meetings and several bigger ones, of which the biggest is for as many as 200 to 300 participants. As the meeting industry infrastructure gradually improves, the capital city of Croatia fosters even more ambitious plans for the future of this dynamic tourist segment. We asked Dražen Hochecker, Director of the Zagreb Convention Bureau, about these plans.
Hotel Antunović Zagreb was opened slightly over two years ago. As of recently, it has considerably boosted its convention capacities with a congress center featuring some twenty superbly equipped meeting halls.
The Zagreb International Airport hit a record figure of two million passengers in one year in November. The upward trend in passenger turnover is certainly influenced by the fact that Zagreb has become an increasingly desirable destination on the international tourist map.
Until mid-January of next year, a retrospective exhibition by Milivoj Uzelac will be open at the Art Pavilion. More than 120 paintings and drawings, gathered from various museums and private collections, will be exhibited as an anthology of the artistic activity of one of the greatest Croatian painters of the 1920’s.
Apart from the excellent cultural program and entertainment line-up that will be taking place on two stages in the city’s main square, the citizens and many visitors, who traditionally spend their time on the streets of Zagreb during the Advent season, will have an opportunity to enjoy various other happenings in the city center.
