To mark the 85th anniversary of one of Zagreb’s oldest and most significant flower salons, the Herzmansky salon, the Zagreb City Museum will feature a large exhibition, which will be open to the public until January 31st. The exhibits will display the most important moments from the history of this well-known family trade.
As part of his “Dust Lane” tour, Yann Tiersen will hold a concert on December 4th at Zagreb’s Culture Factory. The French musician and composer has thus far released thirteen albums and composed music for numerous films.
Containing more than twenty tonnes of rock salt from the depths of the Himalayas, the first Himalayan cave in Croatia has recently opened in Zagreb. Intended for reducing the effects of various diseases and stress, the Himalayan salt crystals consist of as many as 88 elements of the periodical table, 84 of which can also be found in the human body.
An exhibition named /Those who carry do not beg! With a bag across Croatia/ is dedicated to traditional bags and their significance in the Croatian culture since the last quarter of the 19th century until today. The exhibition at the Ethnographic Museum will remain open until the end of April of next year.
In mid-November, UNESCO added the craft of licitar-making, traditionally tied to Zagreb and its surroundings, onto its Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage, which now contains nine Croatian entries.
A retrospective exhibition of artwork by Vasilije Jordan is open to the public at the Modern Gallery until January 9th of next year. The exhibition features more than a hundred works by this artist, which span five decades of his creative opus.
The New Year’s Eve programme at Ban Josip Jelačić Square on December 31st will feature a concert by the British hip-hop band, Stereo MC’s – a gift to Zagreb’s citizens and their guests from the Zagreb Tourist Board.
Once again this year, fans of ice-skating will have the opportunity to enjoy themselves at the “Nice Ice” skating rink. Located in the heart of the city, it will be open to the public at Ban Josip Jelačić Square for ten weeks as of December 6th.
