A classical music festival

The 33rd edition of Zagreb Summer Evenings, a traditional open-air classical music event, will take place between June 27th and July 14th in Grič. It will feature performances by top class Croatian as well as foreign musicians.

Classical music aficionados again have something to look forward to this summer. Among the numerous open air concerts and other music events in the Croatian capital, this year's edition of the traditional Zagreb Summer Evenings festival, which is taking place for the 33rd consecutive year, has been conceived as a festival of classical music, featuring seven exclusive concerts performed by globally renowned musicians. This year’s novelty is a concert titled “Young Croatian Stars”, performed by the most talented young Croatian musicians.

The opening ceremony of the festival will take place on June 27th, in the atrium of the Klovićevi Dvori Gallery in Grič, and it will feature a performance by the Vienna Chamber Orchestra and the renowned Austrian pianist and conductor, Stefan Vladar. This year’s Zagreb Summer Evenings will also feature the first ever Croatian appearance by the renowned Artemis string quartet from Germany. There will also be a performance by the Trio di Parma from Italy, while the music of medieval Bosnia, featured in a project by Katarina Livljanić, will be presented by Dialogos, the French vocal ensemble and the Croatian Kantaduri, on July 10th at the Art Pavilion. The festival will be closed on July 14th with a performance by the renowned Russian violinist, Boris Brovtsyn, with piano accompaniment by the Croatian pianist Danijel Detoni.

The concerts begin at 9 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at the Tourist Information Centre at Zagreb’s main square of Ban Josip Jelačić, online at www.ulaznice.hr, or at the door of the venue an hour before the beginning of the concert.
