A festival of independent theatres and theatre troupes

Aficionados of theatre can expect yet another appealing event in Zagreb: the 1st Croatian Theatre Festival of independent theatres and theatre troupes. During the festival, visitors will have an opportunity to see 38 plays between the 1st and the 4th of September, and learn much more about theatre itself, including its promotion and upcoming projects in a diverse concurrent programme.

Between the 1st and the 4th of September, Zagreb will host the 1st Croatian Theatre Festival of independent theatres and theatre troupes. This is the newest cultural event in Zagreb, which will feature 18 theatre troupes from Croatia as well as abroad.

The Croatian Theatre Festival was conceived as an annual event that will feature plays by members of the Network: independent theatres and theatre troupes gathered in the Theatre Epicentre (the theatre centre of central and south-eastern Europe). It will also feature concurrent events that will be equally enjoyed by all who love theatre: actors, producers, directors, playwrights, and the audience. Plays, roundtables and social gatherings will take place at the Mala Scena theatre, Kinoteka, and the Grič cinema.

In this premiere edition of the festival, audiences will have an opportunity to see 38 plays performed by more or less known theatre troupes, such as: ActLab, Bacači sjenki, Don Hihot, Kazališni studio, K.R. Gustl, Ludens Teatar, Lutkarski studio Kvak, Malo splitsko kazalište, Mala scena, Merlin, Moruzgva, Planet Art, Play Drama, Rugantino, Svarog, Tirena, and Tvornica lutaka.

The majority of the festival tickets are intended for the public, but all potential future associates have also been invited, including representatives of open universities, culture centres, national universities, school and kindergarten pedagogues, representatives of tourist boards, hoteliers, etc.
