A summer theatre-concert stage
Numerous attractive events and performances by renowned actors and musicians will mark the 15th Amadeo Scene, taking place throughout July in the outdoor space of the historic atrium of the Croatian Natural History Museum in the Upper Town.
Diverse theatre and music programmes will mark this year’s edition of the Amadeo Scene, which is celebrating 15 years of its existence. All events will be taking place throughout July in the beautiful, historic atrium of the Croatian Natural History Museum on Demetrova Street in the Upper Town.
This year’s theatre events of the Amadeo Scene began already in late June, when the First International Festival of Academies of Dramatic Arts was organized. Students of the Academies of Dramatic Arts from Zagreb, Ljubljana, Tuzla, Rijeka and Osijek showed their acting skills at the festival, while throughout July audiences can look forward to performances of renowned plays with some of the greatest actors from Croatia and the region starring in the leading roles. Among others, audiences will have the opportunity to see the comedy plays “Educating Rita” and the classic “Exercises in Style”, masterfully performed by the doyens of Croatian theatre, Pero Kvrgić and Lela Margetić. These excellent actors have even made it to the Guinness Book of World Records as a phenomenon in theatre: they have been in the play together for more than forty years now. Zijah Sokolović will also perform his legendary monodrama, “A stork, or how I came into this world”. He will also perform in Chekhov’s play “The Bear”, with the backing of the Lolita jazz quartet from Ljubljana.
The musical part of the programme will also feature performances by renowned musicians, and it will begin on July 1st with a concert by Arsen and Matija Dedić. After the concert the audience will have the opportunity to view a film about the great Croatian artist and poet Arsen Dedić, titled “My Craft”, and directed by Mladen Matičević. A musical treat of this year’s edition of the Amadeo Scene will be the premiere concert by the X Arte ensemble, which is made up of the top class Croatian violoncellist Monika Leskovar, violinist Sreten Krstić, flautist Dani Bošnjak, lute player Srđan Berdović and cembalist Krešimir Hass, as well as a performance by the globally renowned guitarist Miroslav Tadić and the charismatic Rambo Amadeus. A solo recital will be given by the world renowned guitarist Petrit Ceku, but he will also perform with his Elogio Trio. Between July 10th and 12th , the Amadeo Scene will also feature the 3rd Flamenco Festival, which will feature performances by dancers from Spain, Croatia, Slovenia, Serbia and Montenegro, while the audiences can also look forward to an array of other musical treats.
