A wonderful Wild Summer

You do not know how to spend a family summer in Zagreb? Easy! Parents can enjoy all that the city has to offer, while their children can attend an informative and unforgettable five-day programme, “Wild Summer”, organized at the Zagreb ZOO each week until early September.

This year, the Zagreb ZOO is once again organizing a real adventure for schoolchildren: five-day educative programmes called “Wild Summer”, which will be taking place each week until September 2nd. The programmes are intended for children between the ages of 8 and 12, and they take place every day between Monday and Friday, for six hours each day. This is an ideal opportunity to provide children with an unforgettable summer in the company of wild animals, specialized instructors and zookeepers. The programmes are designed to be both informative and entertaining, and they do not include any frightening aspects of wildlife care.

Depending on the time of day, participants will be helping their instructors to prepare food for the animals, as well as feeding some of them in their enclosures. Furthermore, tours of various sections of the zoo will teach participants many other aspects of animal care. In the zoo-lab, children will learn about the effects of acid rain on plants, and how to determine if there is life in the air that we cannot see. Participants will also find out first-hand what a wildlife hotel looks like, and during the “history lesson” they will become more familiar with long-extinct species, from dinosaurs to the largest beast that ever lived on Earth. This is all just a small part of the secrets that children will learn in company of their peers and wild animals during the “Wild Summer”.

Those who are unable to participate in the programme will still have an opportunity to enjoy the summer at the Zagreb ZOO in various other ways thanks to yet another project: the “Four Seasons” club, or “4goZoo”. This programme was conceived in a joint collaboration by employees of the zoo and the Idea Perfekta agency, and it enables visitors to use one ticket for multiple visits to the Zoo. The purchase of one “Four Seasons” club ticket allows four visits to the zoo (once every season), as well as nametag accreditation and four informative brochures (one for each season). It also ensures four guided tours of the zoo, year-round, and allows a 30 percent discount on souvenirs from the “4goZoo” programme. Moreover, it also provides ticket purchasers with announcements and newsletters from the zoo at least twice a year, as well as an e-mail address to which they can send any questions to the zoo instructors.
