Authentic Zagreb Apple Sunčana /Sunny/

In addition to the already familiar products which bear the Zagreb County brand, such as Portugizac Plešivica and Kraljevina Zelina wines, Laktec sauerkraut, Samobor salami, Kap Zdravlja /A Drop of Health/ apple vinegar and Dragec and Kriško cheeses, the Sunčana apple variety is a new member in the family of Zagreb County brand products.

Recently, the leaders of Zagreb County have presented a new product bearing the Zagreb County brand at the Di Giusti family farm. The product in question is the “Sunčana” apple.

The “Sunčana” brand is part of the project to create recognizable apple brands in the County of Zagreb, which was launched in 2005 and funded by Zagreb County. The project is being implemented in cooperation with the School of Agronomy, the Zagrebački Voćnjaci farmers' cooperative, which accounts for the largest quantity of commercially produced apples in the territory of the County of Zagreb and numerous professional partners and associates. 

The Sunčana apple variety, which has become an authentic Zagreb variety of apple, will sell under the slogan ”Good local quality”.

In addition to the Sunčana apple variety, other Zagreb County brand products include Portugizac Plešivica – a ruby-purple red wine, with a fruity aroma of raspberry, blackberry, sour cherry and hints of black currant and plum after a longer period of bottle aging. The Kraljevina Zelina wine, another product protected with the Zagreb County brand, has a green-yellow color and crystal clear transparency. Its aroma is discrete and delicate and its taste is fresh, light and harmonious.
The Sunčana apple variety has thus joined the family which also includes Laktec sauerkraut, Samobor salami, Kap zdravlja apple vinegar and Dragec and Kriško cheese.
