Author of “The Shack” in Zagreb

On July 28th and 29th, Zagreb will be host to William Paul Young, the author of the bestseller, “The Shack”, which has become one of the greatest literature phenomena of the last decade and has attracted millions of readers worldwide.

At the invitation of the Ljevak Naklada publishing house, William Paul Young, the author of the bestseller “The Shack”, will be in Zagreb on July 28th and 29th. During his first visit to Croatia, the Canadian writer will also be hosted by the city of Dubrovnik.

The arrival of William Paul Young in Zagreb is considered a top class literary event, which will undoubtedly attract numerous readers to this meet and greet with the writer. “The Shack”, the novel which according to the author himself was not meant to be published at all, has attracted millions of readers worldwide and has sparked numerous discussions. It is regarded as one of the greatest literary phenomena of the last decade. The novel was number one on the New York Times bestseller list for fifty weeks, twenty million copies have been published thus far, and it has been translated into forty languages.

At first, William Paul Young wrote only for his friends, but then his wife persuaded him to write something for their six children and express his unique view of God in one place. He wrote “The Shack”, but had only 15 copies of it printed. Thanks to the encouragement of two of his friends, he offered his book to publishers, but 26 turned it down. Therefore, he and his friends published his novel together, spending only three hundred dollars on advertising. The book then made it to the New York Times bestseller list by word of mouth.

The Croatian edition of his second bestseller, “Cross Roads”, was released in 2012, and it hit the market at the same time as the American and British editions.
