Daily entertainment in the Upper Town

Fun is guaranteed every day throughout August, thanks to the popular Summer at Stross event. From morning until dark, entertainment is ongoing at the Upper Town Strossmayer promenade: from artist colonies to concerts, theatre plays, films, fairs and other such programs. Everyone will find something to suit their tastes and the Summer at Stross event will last until September 4th.

If you are into art, film, music, or just entertainment in general, make sure to visit the popular Strossmayer promenade in the Upper Town, where citizens of Zagreb and their guests can enjoy the diverse programme of the Summer at Stross event throughout August. This popular event, also known as the Strossmartre, has been taking place at that location since early May. It has, thus far, attracted an impressive number of participants and, keeping in mind that the daily programme will continue until September 3rd, audiences are in for many more surprises.

The diverse programme lasts from morning until evening, and admission is free. In the afternoon hours, pedestrians can enjoy viewing and buying souvenirs, as well as numerous other products of Zagreb, whilst preparing for the evening’s main entertainment program. Starting at 7 p.m., there will be a music forum – Music with a signature. Throughout August, audiences will be entertained by numerous musicians, a different one each day, and the repertoire will vary from The Beatles to gypsy and world music, in addition to modern instrumental beats. Performers include Croatians and foreign bands, including the Sick Swing Orchestra on August 4th, Tomi Novak and Krešo Oremuš Country Blues Duo on August 7th, Dusty Grooves on August 13th, Madine Manouche Gipsy Swing Trio on August 14th, D'Elvis on August 21st, Band on the Road on August 25th, the Kabare Magare band on September 1st, and the Summer Cinema band, which will close this year’s Summer at Stross on September 4th.

Apart from concerts, there will also be open-air projections of one film each night, starting at 10:30 p.m. The audience can also occasionally enjoy performances by local stand-up comedians.
