ECM Annual Conference and General Assembly

Representatives of tourist offices and convention bureaus of European cities will gather at the Westin Hotel Zagreb between 6th and 9th June to attend the European Cities Marketing Annual Conference and General Assembly.

Between 6th and 9th June, the Westin Hotel will be the venue of the European Cities Marketing Annual Conference and General Assembly. This is an association with over 120 members from approximately one hundred cities in 32 countries. By organizing this important meeting Zagreb will once again prove itself as an attractive convention and tourist destination which is gaining in importance on the tourist map of the world. In 2011, the capital of Croatia, which accounts for nearly 50 per cent of the country's convention market, hosted a total of 2600 gatherings, 300 more than the year before. Judging by announcements, the number will increase in the future.

During the meeting, a one-day seminar will be dedicated to the very interesting topic of the fastest growing BRIC market (Brazil, Russia, India and China), which European tourist professionals are increasingly focusing on. Since the supply needs to be adapted to the expectations of the consumers, prominent experts and specialists on these markets will offer very interesting and useful advice to the participants. Moreover, the Zagreb Tourist Board has already established cooperation with these markets, and as a result it received valuable recognition in China. After having won third prize at the trade fair China Outbound Travel & Tourism Market in Beijing last year, this year it has won first prize for marketing. Judging by all of that, the gathering in Zagreb will offer its participants extremely useful guidelines on doing business with these markets.
