Festival in the city with a million hearts
After last year’s successful launch of ZAGREB TOURFILM FESTIVAL, this year Mimara Museum is hosting its second edition from July, 3rd – 5th. It is an event organised by the Zagreb Tourist Board and Balduči Film, and is held under the auspices of the President of the Republic of Croatia Ivo Josipović and Ministry of Tourism.
From this year ZAGREB TOURFILM FESTIVAL is a CIFFT member – the International Committee of Tourism Film Festivals whose members include Warsaw, Los Angeles, Berlin, Riga, Karlovy Vary, Barcelos, Cannes, Veliky Novogrod and others. CIFFT is supported by the World Tourism Organization UNWTO, the European Travel Commission ETC, the Pacific Tourist Organization PATA and the Caribbean Tourism CTO.
The audience will be able to see more than 300 films from 56 countries, including Tanzania, Uganda, Myanmar, Dubai, South Africa, Kenya, Rwanda and Vietnam. The five-member jury, which is working on selecting the best films, consists of relevant domestic and European experts. The president of the jury is Lela Krstevska – President of the Chamber of Tourism of Macedonia, while the other members of the jury are: Ewa Kotus, director of the festival in Poland, Croatian film director Lordan Zafranović, Goranka Greif Soro - excellent editor, script supervisor and the film director of more than 100 foreign films and Bernardin Modrić - film director from Rijeka and the award-winning author of tourism films. The director of the festival is Spomenka Saraga - film producer who for over thirty years is producing only tourist films, many of which have won the awards at festivals around the world, and a member of the international juries at the festivals in the world.
The selected films screened at the Zagreb Tourfilm Festival will present various tourism interests – the promotion of tourist destinations, adventure tourism, extreme sports, nautical tourism, hotels and resorts, people, culture and customs, religious tourism, rural tourism and various other specific facets of the tourism industry. The festival’s program offers four categories: video clips lasting up to 2 minutes, promotional films lasting up to 7 minutes, promotional films lasting up to 60 minutes, TV reports and TV documentary films lasting up to 60 minutes. The selected films will be screened at the Mimara Museum in Zagreb on Thursday, July 4th, from 5 pm to midnight. There is no admission fee.
For the guests of the festival various entertainment programs are prepared. During the three-day festival, there will be held a round table on the topic "How to promote the destination through wines," and on this occasion we will show films from Spain, Macedonia and France. Excursions, special presentations of Zagreb, Varazdin and Međimurska County will be organized and. also, discussions and conversations with the authors of films. We’re expecting a large number of guests from around the world - directors, cinematographers, producers, and representatives of tourism organizations, ministries of tourism and others who were nominated for an award.
