Between the 8th and the 18th of September, Teatar &TD at the Student Centre will be the venue for the first Ganz New Festival, a festival of Theatre for Development. This is a new theatre festival in which young, talented, but as of yet non-affirmed actors from Belgium, France, Great Britain, Croatia and the wider region will present their artistic accomplishments. The festival is aimed at younger audiences and it will promote new trends.

Over the ten days of this theatre event there will be presentations of a total of ten projects and, apart from performances of plays by young actors, there will also be discussions on interesting cultural topics. The festival includes innovative performances by young Flemish, Croatian and other European actors. The audience will also have the opportunity to become more familiar with the work by designer, theatre actor and performer Leentje Vandenbussche, who is very successful in creating elaborate performances in public spaces with the participation of regular people.

The first Ganz New festival will also present: Miet Warlop, Belgian multimedia and theatre actor with direct experience in developmental programmes for young artists at the Victoria Theatre in Gent; Lilia Mestre, Portugese dancer, performer and curator with a permanent address in Brussels; Halory Goerger, French performer and visual artist who is also working in Brussels; and Mala Kline, Slovenian performance actor who is doing an MA at the prestigious Dutch school Das Arts.

The festival will also feature a master-class workshop by Nigel Charnock, British choreographer, dancer and pedagogue, as well as one of the founders of the cult British group DV8. The programme of Croatian actors will include Oliver Frljić’s “I Hate Truth”, Miran Kurspahić and Rona Žulj’s “Earthquake Victims”, as well as Natalija Manojlović and Gordan Tudor’s play “Plumber”.

The concurrent programme of the Ganz New Festival will also feature DJ performances.
