Great Names Play Modern Jazz

The rich program prepared for the N.O. Jazz Festival will feature performances by great names in the world of modern jazz and top class domestic musicians. The festival is being organized for the 9th time and will take place from November 5th to 16th at the Student Center.

Already acknowledged for its impressive program, the 9th N.O. Jazz Festival will offer its audience an even more attractive selection and a handful of surprises. The Festival will be held from November 5th to 16th at the Student Center. It will be open to a variety of musical forms and will be divided into two parts.

The first part will include a concert by the celebrated American trumpeter Dave Douglas and his acoustic trio, a five-day jazz workshop run by New York saxophonist Charles Gayle, and the premiere of the musical performance “Cargo Man” by Damir Bartol Indoš and his “House of Extreme Music Theater”.

The second half of the festival will also include performances by great names in the world of modern jazz, along with a number of well known domestic musicians. The audience will be able to enjoy the music of jazz guitarist Bill Frisell, one of the world's most appreciated jazz instrumentalists and composers, as well as the great jazz violinist Billy Bang and Alexander Balanescu. For the first time, the Zagreb audience will see a performance by the legendary German pianist Alexander von Schlippenbach, along with the oldest European free jazz big band, Globe Unity Orchestra. From the domestic music scene, we expect performances by pianist Elvira Plenar, who will play together with the Swiss electronic performer Karin Ernst. The jazz loving public can expect even more musicals treats at this year's N.O. Jazz Festival which will fulfill all their expectations.
