Interest in Zagreb and Croatia Grows

Members of the Management Board of the Japanese Association of Travel Agents are scheduled to visit Croatia between 5th and 12th November. They will hold their meeting in Zagreb, and besides the Croatian capital, they will also visit Plitvice, Opatija, Split and Dubrovnik.

The Management Board of the Japanese Association of Travel Agents (JATA) will hold their meeting in Zagreb at the beginning of November. The travel organizers will attend a presentation of the tourist offer of the capital of Croatia which has for some years now commanded an increased interest on the Japanese market. Besides Zagreb, during their 8-day stay in Croatia, the JATA Management Board members will also visit Opatija, Plitvice, Split and Dubrovnik. This will be an opportunity for them to see what makes Croatia so special and interesting for tourists.

Over the past few years, there has been a constant growth in the number of arrivals of guests from Japan, so much so that during the first nine month of the current year the Japanese occupied the high third position in terms of the number of overnights. Traditionally, the first place belongs to the Germans, followed by guests from the United States of America. The Japanese in third place are followed by Italians, French and so on. Besides those Japanese guests who make Zagreb their principal destination, there are also a number of groups of Japanese tourists who visit Zagreb on day excursions organized by travel agents in neighboring Slovenia.

According to tourist analysts, Japanese tourists are particularly well disposed towards the Upper Town. They are mostly interested in the exhibitions of contemporary and naive art in the museums. They often visit the Botanical Garden, and they are delighted with the parks and the abundance of urban vegetation. Namely, Zagreb is ranked among the “greenest” European towns, in great part due to the Medvednica nature reserve in its northern part. According to the recently published information on www.hostelworld.com, one of the most popular internet providers for hostel accommodation in the world, Zagreb is also the highest ranking city in the world in terms of the number of museums per square meter.
