Macy Gray is coming with a new album!

The celebrated music diva, Macy Gray, who broke through on the global music scene with her hits from the year 2000, will visit Zagreb for the second time on 25th November, where she will promote her latest album “Covered”, her best yet according to critics, at the Culture Factory.

Fans of Macy Grey will once again, after three years, have an opportunity to enjoy her hits in the heart of Zagreb! The Culture Factory will feature her big concert on 25th November, with which she will be promoting her latest studio album, “Covered”, considered by fans and critics alike as the absolute peak of her creativity.

Macy Gray has many great hits and six studio albums under her belt, all of which have enthralled audiences wherever she went, but her first album recorded in 2000, “On How Life Is”, is possibly her most interesting as it instantly propelled her to global stardom on the music scene as well as the movie scene. Thanks to her music career, she has landed roles in many films, including Spiderman, Scary Movie 3, Lackawanna Blues, etc…

Rarely do musicians achieve success with their debut albums, but proof that Macy Gray certainly did so lies in the fact that the single from her debut album, “I Try”, has won numerous awards (Grammy, MTV…), while the album itself has been sold in over 25 million copies.

Numbers speak of her great success, but critics also support this by stating how she managed to break through despite an obvious over-saturation of the music scene, which is bursting at the seams with so many similar music styles and unoriginal songs. Macy Gray did not invent a new genre; she gained fame by offering a brilliant mix of different music genres and creating hits that verge on experimental soul, retro disco, some hip hop, and even alternative rock.

And finally, although numerous loyal fans had expected something similar from the new album “Covered”, Macy once again managed to surprise everyone by creating a cover album of known indie rock hits. Her initial inspiration to make her own covers was the song “My Way”, covered by the great Nina Simone. She managed to include her own vision into that song, and it was that freedom of reinterpretation that Macy Gray liked so much that she herself decided to do something similar. This has resulted in the cover songs retaining their original emotion, with the addition of Macy’s musical notes. Critics are praising her more than ever, so do not miss hearing her perform live at the Culture Factory!
