Marking the 10th jubilee

Between January 4th and 6th, Sljeme will once again be host to the Audi FIS World Cup “Vip Snow Queen Trophy” slalom races, marking the 10th jubilee of the event.

At the beginning of next year, Sljeme will once again be host to the Audi FIS World Cup “Vip Snow Queen Trophy” 2015, and it will also mark a special anniversary – the jubilee 10th female slalom race. Like in previous years, it is scheduled for January 4th, while the afternoon hours are reserved for the always attractive and entertaining Legends Race, which has a humanitarian character. The men will compete on January 6th in a night slalom race.

The jubilee World Cup races will be run by 150 of the world’s best male and female slalom skiers from 28 countries, with an entourage of more than 400 team members and officials. The day before each race there will be a public drawing of the starting numbers for the competitors at Ban Josip Jelačić Square, which will be accompanied by an entertaining music programme.

Although the slalom races at Sljeme have only been taking place for nine years, thanks to their excellent organization, Zagreb is recognized as a member, albeit the youngest, of the prestigious “Club 5”, joining Kitzbuehel, Wengen, Schladming, Val Garden and Val d’Isere in this association of traditional organizers of World Cup races which was founded back in 1968. Apart from being part of the prestigious club, the slalom races at Sljeme also boast a special atmosphere which is enhanced by the supporters, and this is why the competitors are always happy to return to Zagreb to achieve success in their sport.
