Nikola Tesla’s Demonstration Cabinet Receives a Make-Over

Last year, Croatia marked the 150th anniversary of a great genius, inventor, electrical technician and physicist, Nikola Tesla. Recently, his Demonstration Cabinet at the Technical Museum, which holds replicas of his best known inventions, has been given a complete make-over.

The reconstructions of the great scientist’s best known inventions, made according to his original designs and patent applications and using contemporaneous methods, are kept at the Technical Museum in Zagreb, in Nikola Tesla’s Cabinet.

The project to refurbish the cabinet took two years to complete. As a result, the cabinet has been given a new lease of life. It now sports a more dynamic, more modern appearance and a combined multimedia approach to the life and work of Nikola Tesla. The stalls, seating up to 90 visitors, divide the visitors’ area into three parts depicting three different periods in the life of the great genius – his childhood, education, and his life and work in America, as well as all the decorations and awards that he received.
The artifacts in the cabinet are mounted on mobile stands which move towards the central, demonstration area. Every day, the Technical Museum’s visitors can see reenactions of Nikola Tesla’s experiments.

In addition to the Nikola Tesla Memorial Center, which was open last year in Smiljan, Tesla’s place of birth, the Demonstration Cabinet at Zagreb’s Technical Museum is yet another proof that Croatians are extremely proud of Tesla and his work and will not allow his homeland to forget the man who “invented the 20th century”.
