With the opening of the final two, 14.5 km long  sections of the highway, , the construction of the  highway between Zagreb and Rijeka has been  completed. The 145 km long highway is of paramount importance for tourism because you can now get from one city to the other in less than 1 hour and 15 minutes of pleasant driving. The construction of the highway was a demanding project as it contains a total of 13 tunnels, 24 viaducts, 6 bridges and 10 junctions. Apart from this, there are traffic control centers in Lučko, Delnice, Čavli and Rupa, while the entire length of the highway is under camera surveillance for improved traffic safety.
