Among a diverse selection of classical and jazz events, on May 17th, the Vatroslav Lisinski Concert Hall will be the venue for a concert by one of the best Russian sopranos, Julia Lezhneva. The top class singer became a global sensation at just 23 years old, so fans are eagerly awaiting her Zagreb concert, which she will perform along with the Il Giardino Armonico Ensemble.

After winning first place at the Elena Obraztsova International Opera Singers Contest in Russia at age 18, Julia Lezhneva began performing with some of the greatest opera singers in the world, including Peruvian tenor Juan Diego Flórez, known for his roles in bel canto operas. She also performed with Romanian soprano Anghela Gheorghiu, Mexican tenor Rolando Villazón, and Welsh baritone Bryn Terfel.

For her first concert in Zagreb, backed by the Il Giardino Armonico Ensemble, she will perform pieces by Georg Friedrich Händl. The aforementioned ensemble held its last concert at Lisinski two years ago, performing Bach’s Brandenburg Concertos.

Tickets priced between 120 and 200 kuna can be purchased online at www.lisinski.hr or at the concert hall’s box-office.
