Between November 6th and 8th, the Trešnjevka Culture Centre will be the venue of the 8th PSSST Silent Film Festival. With its unique concept, this festival offers the artists the opportunity to test their creativity in the competition part of the programme using this specific form of art as their expressive tool. Besides film professionals, the competition is open to amateurs too. When it comes to contemporary cinematographic works, the original sound is removed and replaced by high-quality sound support, live music which will accompany the silent projection, a particularly charming feature of this unusual festival.  The winner will receive the Brcko Grand Prize, the official award of PSSST!, named after the main character of Croatia’s first feature film, Brcko in Zagreb, made back in 1917. There will also be an audience award. This unique film festival is a veritable treat for film buffs which regularly attracts a very respectable number of visitors.

As well as the competition programme, the festival screens a rich selection of film classics from the golden era of silent film — it has already presented masterpieces of Russian, Danish and Japanese cinematography, and this year it is showing silent works from Sweden.

The organizer of the PSSST! Silent Film Festival is the Trešnjevka Culture Centre under the auspices of the City Office for Education, Culture and Sports.
