Skiing Extravaganza on Sljeme – The Snow Queen Trophy
Skiing’s elite will once again race down Sljeme into the New Year.
The skiing extravaganza that is the Snow Queen Trophy will once again gather the world‘s best slalom skiers at the beginning of the new year. This international skiing spectacle on the slopes of Sljeme peak brings together two races of the Audi FIS World Cup: a women’s race which will be held on 5 January and a men’s race on 6 January. On the day before each race, i.e. on 4 and 5 January, lots for the competitors’ starting numbers will be drawn in the Ice Park on Trg kralja Tomislava in the centre of Zagreb.
The race on Sljeme will host 150 international skiers and more than 400 team members from over 25 countries from four continents. This year once again thousands of spectators are expected who will create a unique atmosphere on both race days.
The excellent organisation of the Snow Queen Trophy and the wonderful atmosphere on Sljeme have put Zagreb on the map alongside the world’s best skiing destinations: Val Gardena, Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Kitzbühel, Wengen and Val d'Isere. The Sljeme race has entered the “Club 5+ Ski Classics”, a club of the best organisers of World Cup races. The International Skiing Federation has entered the Snow Queen Trophy in the calendar until 2022 and thus shown great faith in the Croatian Ski Association.
So, make a note of the first weekend in January and don’t miss being part of the Snow Queen Trophy, the race which puts Zagreb on the international skiing and tourist map.
