Soon a new location for the museum
The pending opening of the new building for the Museum of Modern Art in Zagreb, which is planned for September of this year, was announced in the gallery of the Association Le Pont Neuf in Paris, by the recent opening of the exhibition “Croatian Art - A New Museum of Modern Art in Zagreb”.
The exhibition “Croatian Art – A New Museum of Modern Art in Zagreb” was opened on March 26th in the gallery of the Association Le Pont Neuf in Paris. The exhibition precedes the opening of the new building for the Museum of Modern Art in Zagreb which is planned for September of this year.
The exhibition features a photo presentation of the evolution and current look of the new Museum of Modern Art by the internationally recognized artist Jasenko Rasolo. In this way the Paris public is able to follow the construction of the new museum in Zagreb. The author of the exhibition is Snježana Pintarić. The selection of authors and works on display marks the 50th anniversary of the Paris exhibition, which featured the works of Vojin Bakić, Ivan Picelj and Aleksander Srnec, shown in Paris for the first time in 1959 at the Denise René Gallery. That was one of the first and most important appearances by Croatian painters outside of the country after World War II, as those artists have made a strong impact on Croatian modern with their strong individual traits. Their works will be on permanent display in the new Museum of Modern Art in Zagreb.
The chairperson of the gallery of the Association Le Pont Neuf is the wife of the former French president, Jacques Chirac. The program of the gallery is mostly based on the promotion of art in the countries of Central Europe, as well as those countries that will soon become members of the European Union. In collaboration with the Museum of Modern Art in Zagreb, last year they organized an exhibition featuring the father of Croatian modern photography, Tošo Dabac, titled “People from the Street”.
