With the backing of the in-house choir and orchestra, actors from the Croatian National Theatre of Split will perform one of the best known Croatian operettas, “Split Aquarelle”, on February 13th at the Dražen Petrović Basketball Centre.

This famous work, by composer and libretto writer Ivo Tijardović, was dedicated to the “common folk” of Split and first premiered in 1928. The story reveals the love between two youths, which develops around a small farm-house still located in the old part of Split – Veli Varoš. Old chronicles reveal that the premiere audience did not receive the operetta very well; however, over the years it related increasingly to Split and, over time, has become one of the most recognizable symbols of the town.

For the first time in 19 years, the Zagreb audience will once again have an opportunity to enjoy the famous arias of “Split Aquarelle”, performed by members of the Croatian National Theatre of Split and coproduced by the Croatian National Theatre of Split and the Picaferaj agency. This will be the third joint performance of the “Split Aquarelle” by director Krešimir Dolenčić and maestro Ivo Lipanović, who have been continuously improving it since 1991. Since “Aquarelle” was performed with a new set-up in November 2008, it immediately became a theatre hit and all ensuing shows have quickly sold out. The Zagreb performance will be conducted by maestro Ivo Lipanović.

Tickets for this music spectacle have been on sale since January 15th at popular prices of 100, 120, and 150 kuna. They can be purchased at the Vatroslav Lisinski concert hall ticket office, the Cibona Fun Shop, Croatia Records on Bogovićeva street, clubs Roko and Akademija at the Jarun lake, as well as all ticket offices of Eventim.
