On December 3rd, the Vatroslav Lisinski Concert Hall will host a concert by the Chinese National Symphony Orchestra, which will be conducted by French conductor, Michel Plasson. In addition, Sa Chen, one of the most talented and internationally renowned Chinese pianists, will also be performing along with the Chinese National Symphony Orchestra; her musical prowess has been described as “a perfect blend of poetry and virtuosity” by the BBC Music Magazine.

The Chinese National Symphony Orchestra has been active for almost half a century and, since the beginning, it has been performing on stages worldwide. Standing witness to its quality and success are the names of famous conductors with whom the orchestra has cooperated, such as: Herbert von Karajan, Seiji Ozawa, Charles Dutoit, Kurt Masur, Yehudi Menuhin, Martha Argerich, Yo-Yo Ma, Mischa Maisky, Lang Lang, etc.

Currently, the orchestra is conducted by Michel Plasson, the first foreigner to take that position. Before joining the Chinese National Symphony Orchestra, he spent 30 years conducting the National Orchestra of Toulouse, as well as other famous orchestras around the world, from Berlin, through Paris and London, all the way to Beijing. In Zagreb, the Chinese National Symphony Orchestra will perform a repertoire by Chinese composer, Wu Zu–Qiang, as well as music by Sergei Rachmaninoff and Anton Dvoøák.
