The European Christmas Story is arriving

The Hotel and Tourism School will be hosting the unique event “Christmas in Europe”, which will present the Christmas traditions of twenty European countries. This event – organized by the European Association of Hotel and Tourism Schools – marks the Advent season and will take place between the 1st and the 7th of December.

Between the 1st and the 7th of December, Zagreb will host the unique event “Christmas in Europe”, which is being organized for the 20th consecutive year. It is organized by the European Association of Hotel and Tourism Schools, and each year it takes place in a different country. This year’s host will be the Hotel and Tourism School of Zagreb; according to Dr. Marija Rašan Križanac, director of the Zagreb school and president of the Association of Hotel and Tourism Schools of Croatia, the display of Christmas festivities from 20 European countries will compliment the Advent atmosphere of the Croatian capital.

The main part of the “Christmas in Europe” event will take place on the 17th floor of the Westin Hotel, where students from 20 countries – the maximum number of participating countries allowed, according to the event’s guidelines – will present their national Christmas customs. The interest of Hotel and Tourism schools across Europe is great, and Austria, Italy, France, Slovenia, Portugal, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Latvia, Luxembourg, Russia, Slovakia, and Hungary have already confirmed their participation. It is, therefore, quite evident that the interest will exceed the number of allowed participants, according to the guidelines of the “Christmas in Europe” event.

The Hotel and Tourism School of Zagreb is the main organizer of the gathering, which is being sponsored by the Croatian Government and the City of Zagreb, with the support of the Croatian National Tourist Board, the Zagreb Tourist Board, and other educational institutions. The Hotel and Tourism School has a 56-year-long tradition and it currently has 700 students and 50 adults enrolled in a program to become Hotel and Tourism Technicians. Moreover, students of the school have won numerous awards for academic achievements at various domestic and international contests.
