The Most Eminent Documentary Film Festival in the Region

ZagrebDox is an international documentary film festival and competition which has been taking place in Zagreb for four years. The underlying idea behind its launch was to raise people’s awareness of the long documentary film making tradition in South Eastern Europe.

Some 120 films from roughly 30 countries from all over the world will be shown as part of the numerous and varied programs of the ZagrebDox Festival which is to take place between 25 February and 2 March this year at the Students’ Center and Europa movie theaters.

ZagrebDox is the ideal place for audiences, filmmakers and other professionals from the region to meet and exchange their views and ideas and discuss future projects. Its only criterion is the quality of the finished documentary product.
The competition program will include the world's best authors and creative documentary films shot or produced in the past year.

ZagrebDox’s focus on the recent productions in the entire region has contributed to its status as the biggest and most important documentary festival in the region.

In addition to the two competition programs, ZagrebDox also includes a number of other side events, of which two are retrospectives. This year’s national retrospective will feature contemporary Japanese documentaries and the author’s retrospective is dedicated to the work of the famous Polish director, Marcel Lozinski.
This year, the Author’s Night will be dedicated to the works of Petar Krelja,
who is also President of the ZgDox 2008 Jury.
The program entitled Controversial Dox features films whose delicate themes are subject of polemics among audiences, media and professionals.

All viewers will be able to select the best YouTube works by voting for them on ZgDox web pages. These works will then be shown as a separate festival program.

In the framework of the festival, a workshop will be organized aimed at teaching film makers about the final stage in the development of documentary film projects.
