The most topical display of contemporary Croatian art

A large competitive exhibition is on display at the Museum of Contemporary Art until 27th March. Organized for the fourth year in a row as a joint project by the museum and the T-HT company, this annual exhibition represents an interesting cross-section of works by contemporary Croatian artists.

The fourth edition of the large annual competitive exhibition titled T-HTnagrada@msu.hr 2010 has been organized at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Zagreb. Representing a cross-section of the most topical works by contemporary Croatian artists, the main goal of the exhibition is to present the recent works of these most popular artists to the general public.

 Of the total number of works that were submitted, the selection committee chose works by 40 artists of different generations, who also foster quite diverse types of artistic expression. Some authors are represented by their integral projects, which they previously displayed in one-man shows at other galleries. For example, this year’s T-HTnagrada@msu.hr 2010 features, amongst other exhibits: the entire one-man exhibitions by the best known print-photo-design tandem, Bachrach&Krištofić; the renowned graphic design artists, Iva Ćurić and Ana Sladetić; a fashion designer and artist, Silvije Vujičić; a versatile contemporary artist, Goran Škofić; and many others.

Although the exhibition was originally planned as a place for promoting contemporary media art, bodies of work by artists who foster different creative expressions prompted its organizers to expand their artistic horizons. Thus, nowadays one can see sculptures, paintings, photos, drawings and collages – all related to the assigned theme of contemporary art. Some artists attempt to explore everyday life and topical issues, such as: illegal construction; urbanism; social and welfare policies; as well as the post-war legacy and corruption. Meanwhile, others will present their views of contemporary art in the form of creative installations and works that rely heavily on modern technology to produce fascinating visual and audio effects.

The modern approach to the organization of this exhibition provides visitors with many other experiences, such as the opportunity to partake in workshops, prize competitions, talks with artists, and even the selection of their own favourite for the Audience’s Award. The three best works from the exhibition will find their places in the T-HT collection, along with the previous years’ laureates.
