Can you imagine a seemingly mismatched combination of classical music and break-dance, baroque and contemporary, urban youth culture? That is precisely what the Flying Steps dance crew will present on the latest Red Bull Flying Bach World Tour, on the 5th and 6th of May at Vatroslav Lisinski Concert Hall.
This is a large global project which amazed spectators in many countries during its premiere tour last year, and this year it is continuing with an even more intense rhythm. Besides Zagreb, they will also perform in Pula, and by the end of the year they will have visited 12 countries. It is, therefore, a great privilege to come to Zagreb and see this sensation!
The show lasts 70 minutes and features global break dancing legends from the Flying Steps dance crew who perform dance stunts to the music of Bach’s Fuga. It is directed by opera director Christoph Hagel.
The project has truly pushed boundaries as such a blend of classical baroque music and modern urban break-dance has never been seen before. The audience will have the opportunity to enjoy the dance stunts as well as Johann Sebastian Bach’s Fuga in a somewhat modern version, performed with a piano, a harpsichord and electronic music.
The founder of the Flying Steps dance crew and his colleagues have long been dreaming of such a large project, but before they started cooperating with Red Bull their attempts to combine classical music and break-dance had boiled down to nothing but a combination of movements and rhythm. The choreography was not as extensive, and the performance now equally amazes with sound as it does with the entire visual experience. The show will, therefore, be an inspiration to many.
