The Student Centre - The International Zagreb Guitar Festival

Between February 11th and 14th, the Student Centre will be the venue for the second Zagreb Guitar Festival, which will once again bring together top class guitarists from Croatia and abroad.

The second International Zagreb Guitar Festival will feature a diverse programme. The festival, which will take place between February 11th and 14th at the Student Centre, has been conceived as a specialised gathering for people of various profiles, ranging from students and professionals to fans of classical, jazz and world music.

The festival will feature a concurrent international competition of guitarists, as well as master workshops headed by the best Croatian and foreign pedagogues which offer young artists the opportunity to learn from the best. Apart from the professional aspects of the festival programme, evening concerts and a guitar and guitar equipment fair will take place as part of the event.  

After the opening ceremony at the Croatian Music Institute, there will be a concert by the renowned and multiply awarded Zagreb Guitar Trio. On February 12th, the concert hall of the Music Academy will be the venue for two concerts performed by two guitar virtuosos. The first one will be held by a young Polish guitarist, Lukasz Kuropaczewski, whom music critics hail as one of the best classical guitarists in the world, while the second concert, featuring a programme of music by renaissance, baroque and contemporary authors, will be performed by the excellent Zagreb Guitar Quartet. Apart from performances by the aforementioned musicians, the audiences of this year’s edition of the Zagreb Guitar Festival will have the opportunity to enjoy concerts by the phenomenal duo consisting of Zoran Dukić and Maroje Brčić, as well as by one of the best young Croatian guitarists, Petrit Çeku, and the Sebastian Quartet, as well as the top class jazz guitarist Darko Jurković Charlie. After a lengthy break, Zagreb will once again be host to the brilliant guitar duo consisting of Vlatko Stefanovski and Miroslav Tadić, who will perform at the Student Centre cinema on February 13th.
