Top class violinist Leonidas Kavakos in Zagreb
Among the numerous concerts scheduled for early 2014 at the Croatian Music Institute, one of the most renowned contemporary violinists, Leonidas Kavakos, will hold an exclusive recital on February 7th.
On February 7th, the Croatian Music Institute will be the venue for an exclusive recital by one of the most renowned contemporary violinists – Leonidas Kavakos. The Greek virtuoso began this year by performing at the Musikverein in Vienna, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, La Scala in Milan, Royal Albert Hall in London, and he will also hold concerts at the renowned Salle Pleyel in Paris, as well as several other cities in Europe before he embarks on his tour of the USA, Canada and China. One of those other European cities he will visit is the Croatian capital, where he will hold a concert co-organized by the Zagreb Concert Management and the Greek Embassy in Croatia. This exquisite music event will also pay homage to Greece’s presidency over the EU.
Leonidas Kavakos will perform at the Croatian Music Institute accompanied on the piano by Enrico Pace with whom he has brought down the house many times. The program will include four sonatas by four great composers - Ludwig van Beethoven, Claude Debussy, Maurice Ravel and Ottorino Respighi. Leonidas Kavakos held his last concert in Zagreb in 2010, at the Vatroslav Lisinski Concert Hall, performing works By Pyotr Ilych Tchaikovsky, backed by the philharmonic orchestra of Milan’s La Scala and conducted by Valery Gergiev.
