Zagrepčanka 512

If you are physically prepared for running up stairs, sign up for the “Zagrepčanka 512” race, taking place in the 26 storey business tower. The humanitarian race is open to all citizens, including fire-fighters who will compete wearing full protective gear.

A unique race up stairs, “Zagrepčanka 512”, will be organized for the third consecutive year on December 13th. The race will take place inside the 26 storey Zagrepčanka business tower, which has a total of 512 steps. Anyone who thinks they can complete the run may partake. For security reasons, however, contestants will run “only” up 490 steps, to the 25th floor.

The race, timed by a chronometer, will begin at 11 a.m., and since last year it has been part of the Towerunning World Cup. A contestant takes off every 15 seconds, and the winner remains unknown until all the contestants’ scores come in.

The race is organized by the “Aktivan Život – Active Life” sports recreation association, in cooperation with the City Office for Health, as part of marking the “month of the struggle against addiction”.

At 2 p.m. there will be a humanitarian race of fire-fighters, organized by the Sesvetski Kraljevec Voluntary Fire-fighting Association, and all of the proceeds will be donated to the Croatian Leukaemia and Lymphoma Association. The fire-fighters will compete in their full protective gear – trousers and jacket, protective boots, helmet and gloves.

Application forms for the race can only be filled in online at www.zagrepcanka512.trcanje.hr and they are to be submitted no later than 8 p.m. on December 12th. Anyone physically fit enough to run up stairs may partake for free, except for the fire-fighters who must pay a minimum of 75 kuna to participate in this humanitarian run. The contestant who pays the most will receive a special gift.
