The programme of the Amadeo Stage which continues from mid-August until September 6th, will once again attract numerous aficionados of “serious” cultural events. Located within the Atrium of the Croatian Natural History Museum in the Upper Town, the repertoire includes known theatre pieces, recitals, and concerts of classical, as well as modern music.
Under the starry sky and in the old city centre, Zagreb offers yet another attractive summer program: film evenings of the Gradec Summer Cinema. Good weather permitting, there will be a film projection every evening, starting at 9 p.m., between the 2nd and the 24th of August; admission is free.
Continuing the tradition of organ concerts at the cathedral of the Holy Virgin’s Ascension, this year’s Zagreb Cathedral Organ Festival will be held between the 8th and the 22nd of July. The organ of the Zagreb cathedral is among the ten most beautiful organs in the world.
Between the 16th and the 24th of July, Zagreb will be host to the World Championship Air Rifle Competition for persons with disabilities. The main organizer of the competition, the Croatian Paralympic Committee, is announcing this great sporting spectacle, which will also serve as a qualifying competition for participation in the 2012 London Paralympics.
Until July 25th, the Archaeological Museum will feature a large exhibition called “Roman military equipment in Croatia”, which displays the rich heritage of the Roman military in this area. Some exhibits have been discovered relatively recently and are, thus, a mystery even to the specialized public.
The Modern Gallery is continuing with the organization of unique art exhibitions primarily aimed at blind and visually impaired people, which enables them to get to know some of the greatest works of Croatian modern art by means of touch and vocal guidance.
Once again this year, between the 2nd and the 29th of July, the Zagreb Summer Evenings, one of the oldest summer festivals in the city, will feature numerous concerts by renowned musicians from all over the world. The first Festival of Operetta and Musicals will also take place as part of this music event in the Upper Town.
Just three days after the Lady Gaga concert on November 5th, the Arena will be the venue for a concert by the charismatic musician Sting. His third performance in Zagreb will feature backing by the renowned Royal Philharmonic Orchestra of London.
