On the 2nd and 3rd of July, Zagreb will be host to the first international competition of ballet dancers “Mia Čorak Slavenska”. Apart from contestants from ten countries, numerous ballet pedagogues, masters, as well as theatre and ballet school directors are also expected to arrive in Zagreb during the competition.
With backing by the Symphony Orchestra of the Croatian Radio and Television (HRT), and three domestic musicians, the best choir singers in Croatia will perform at the Prima Ars Fest, the national festival of choir singing, on July 3rd. The festival will provide the Zagreb audience with an opportunity to hear the members of the newly founded Girls’ Choir of Croatia perform for the first time.
Once again, this summer, Zagreb’s citizens and numerous tourists will have an opportunity to enjoy various events at Stross, the popular city walkway in the Upper Town, where various cultural happenings will be ongoing until September 12th.
It has been officially confirmed – the legendary band Guns N' Roses will perform in Zagreb on September 24th. They will hold a concert at Zagreb’s largest hall, the Arena, as part of their European tour. Tickets have been on sale since early June.
A promotional film, “Advent in Zagreb”, by the Zagreb Tourist Board was chosen as the best tourism spot at Tourfilm – an international festival of tourism films in the Italian town of Lecce.
Throughout the summer, the atrium of the Croatian Natural History Museum in the Upper Town will be the main stage of Zagreb’s popular Amadeo club scene, which will feature daily concerts, theatre plays, and projections of the best films from all over the world.
Once again, throughout this summer, actors of the Histrion troupe will descend upon the open space of Opatovina in the Upper Town, thereby marking the 25th anniversary of an interesting summer theatre event in Zagreb.
Between the 13th and the 15th of May, Zagreb was host to the annual gathering of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), during which more than two thousand participants from all over the world discussed current financial and economic topics.
