The Arts and Crafts Museum has teamed up with the Old Masters' Gallery of the Joanneum Museum to present to Zagreb an exhibition of prints of one of the greatest baroque painters – Rembrandt Harmesz van Rijn. The exhibition opens on the 9th of December and remains open until 15 February 2009.

Another promenade will be opened in mid-September along the Sava, the longest Croatian waterway, the river which flows through the city of Zagreb. Thus, the citizens and their guests will have another promenade on the river's banks and yet another spot from which to savor the beauty of the river or benefit from the increasing number of opportunities for sports, recreation, entertainment or fine wining and dining.

The Botanical Garden of Zagreb is a monument of garden architecture protected under the law for its educational role and exceptional cultural and historical value. Next year, the Botanical Garden will mark the 120th anniversary of its existence.

Maksimir Park, a protected asset and monument of park architecture was created on the southern slopes of Mt. Medvednica and opened to the public 214 years ago as the first public park in south-east Europe and one of the first of its kind in the world. The park, designed in the style of an English garden, is the brain child of Bishop Maksimilijan Vrhovec for whom it was named (Maksimilijan's Mir (Peace) or Maksimir). It is a green and blue oasis at a stone's throw from the busy city center.

If you start exploring the environs of Zagreb, you will find something interesting in every season, but there is certainly a lot to be said about autumn, with its explosion of colors and abundance of the earth’s gifts. Autumn festivities are held across the county to supplement the already impressive offer of the region.

The Park-in-Zagreb Festival, which is scheduled to take place between June 29th and July 12th at Ribnjak Park, will once again entertain the audiences with a variety of cultural features and sporting events throughout the duration of its 2-week program.

Some thirty music performances, including concerts of classical music, jazz, fado, flamenco and traditional music from various countries, will be taking place throughout July, as part of the 25th Zagreb Summer Evenings Festival.

From the 15th to the 18th of October, Zagreb will host the participants of the International Healthy Cities Conference, organized by the WHO Regional Office for Europe. The first such conference was held twenty years ago, also in Zagreb.
